David Leblang

David Leblang is the Ambassador Henry Taylor Professor of Politics in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Virginia and a Faculty Associate at the Miller Center. He is also a Professor of Public Policy at the University’s Batten School for Leadership and Public Policy where he is Director of the Global Policy Center. His research is in the area of global migration, focusing on the causes and consequences of labor migration and global refugee flows. Currently he completing a project modeling the social, environmental, economic, and political factors associated with legal and illegal migration into the United States; part of this effort includes the development of forecasting models which can be used to assess the efficacy of different approaches to decreasing unwanted migration. The empirical model underlying this project will be used to better understand the role that migration plays in the transmission of infectious disease. Leblang Website
