Christina Pierre

Dr. Pierre completed her undergraduate degree in biomedical sciences and biochemistry at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada. She went on to pursue a Ph.D. in molecular and cell biology at McMaster University in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Dr. Pierre’s interest in global health stems from her first-hand experience of socioeconomic divides in access to high quality healthcare in her own country. This, combined with her passion for gender equality, prompted her to found a women’s health-focused non-profit organization called My Sister’s Keeper Initiative, which is focused on spreading awareness about women’s health issues, providing no-cost women’s health services and conducting population-relevant research throughout the Caribbean region. Dr. Pierre is currently in Clinical Chemistry Fellow at the University of Virginia, and hopes to utilize her career in lab medicine to improve access to high quality clinical laboratory testing in low resource settings.
